You can easily see the difference between the two types of knot we use, especially on the front of the rug. With the "Persian" knot the pile (the bit that sticks up) diffuses the appearance of the actual knot giving a softer, warmer feel. With the Soumac the continual weave is visible running through the carpet both front and back.
On the reverse the individual knot's of the "Persian" rug can be clearly seen. A judge of quality is to count the number of knot's per square inch. In this case it is 8 x 8 which equates to 64 knot quality. Our current range goes from 40 knot's per square inch up to 250 knot's per square inch.
Finer rugs have more knots and so take longer to make hence the higher price.
We also use a finer quality Soumac weave that sharpens the design on the rug.
There is an advantage to the Soumac in that the construction allows you to use the front and back as the showing side. This allows you to choose between the bolder textured side of the front and the softer Colours and flat appearance of the reverse.
